Mechanical Engineering

Mechanical systems are at the core of every building and no one understands that more than OSEG team of engineers.  Our HVAC engineers not only advise and work with our clients to identify their needs and energy saving goals, but what is most conducive for the client’s needs.  We will design a system that is efficient and meets each established need to produce a comfortable building environment for occupants.  Comparison studies of the various systems will be made if necessary for maximum system efficacy.  Calculations are preformed to ensure that not only is the system sized properly, but that all the individual indoor environments are comfortable per each desired need. The air provided should be a comfortable temperature and humidity level and is free of harmful air pollutants.  The systems must also be energy-efficient, reliable, quiet and aesthetically pleasing even in open ceiling spaces.

Our system design include:

  • Exhaust Systems
  • IT/Computer Rooms
  • Isolation/Clean Rooms
  • Packaged DX
  • Split system DX
  • Rooftop/VAV
  • Natural and LP gas piping
  • Geothermal
  • Chiller / Boiler

Improper operation and maintenance of HVAC systems is a common problem impacting workplace indoor environmental quality.  Ventilation rates for different types of buildings and other important engineering controls to manage ventilation, moisture, and temperature in a building are strictly adhered to per the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) guidelines.

In today’s environment we also make note of The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued guidance related to the modification of heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) systems in commercial buildings to help reduce the spread of airborne contaminants.

Our systems are designed to also serve to dilute and remove contaminants from occupied areas, including:

  • carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide
  • tobacco smoke
  • molds and bacteria
  • cleaning products
  • copy machines and printers

Our approach to lowering the concentrations of indoor air pollutants including any viruses that may be present in the air is to increase the amount of outdoor air.  Ensuring proper ventilation with outside air can help reduce the concentration of indoor airborne contaminants.  Proper ventilation can also reduce surface contamination by removing some virus particles before they can fall out of the air and land on surfaces.

Passionate about the design of new facilities and complex renovations, OSEG understands the need for building systems to provide a comfortable and healthy environment for users in a balanced internal environment.

Electrical Engineering

Our Electrical engineers at OSEG are versed skilled professional specializing in the design and development of electricity-related products, such as power systems. We collaborate with Architects, Owners and local distribution companies to create essential components for modern living.  Develop systems for a wide range of projects, from small-scale to large-scale and at the same time ensuring compliance with specifications, codes.

With the ever-changing demands for energy efficiency, coupled with the local and national jurisdictions increasingly enacting stricter and more robust energy code requirements. Our engineers perform assessments in order to ensure compliance with safety standards and electrical engineering codes.  Our engineers are capable of designing new systems as well as upgrading and/or improving the electrical system in an existing facility.  An evaluation of an existing will be made of its safety, reliability, and performance in order to make sure the new system will accommodate for the immediate and future needs.  Our projects range from small renovations to entire campus distribution systems. We have extensive experience in the design of both normal and emergency power distribution systems for buildings. Our designs routinely incorporate computer analysis to determine arc flash and overcurrent device coordination.

OSEG’s electrical team has extensive experience designing electrical systems for diverse building types and markets. Our staff’s assorted backgrounds in lighting design, electrical engineering, controls, sales, manufacturing, and contracting separate us from other electrical firms. We keep up with the latest trends, concepts, and codes by continually attending IES meetings and conducting our own research. We provide our clients with premium electrical design services including:

  • Power Distribution
  • Emergency Power / Generator Distribution Systems
  • Optional Standby Systems
  • Lighting Design and Controls
  • Site lighting + Photometric Calculations
  • Fire Alarm Systems
  • Data / Telecommunications
  • UPS systems
  • Lighting Protection
  • Medium / High Voltage Substations
  • Arc Flash Analysis
  • Audio/Visual Systems
  • Public Address Systems
  • Grounding Systems
  • Security Systems

OSEG engineers thoughtfully and purposefully designs your electrical system, addressing every factor that could potentially impact it, including the expected electrical load, changes in the code requirements and any cost constraints.  While the size of the building and its intended purpose greatly affect the design concept, this common-sense approach yields the same result each and every time.

OSEG’s electrical engineers approach every design opportunity as just that – an opportunity. Whether it is maintaining historical significance on a restoration project to calculating arc-flash for (a ground up facility), an industrial plant, our engineers and designers use the latest in engineering software to develop practical solutions. The design and installation of these systems must be code-compliant and sized proportionately to the project site. Our lighting design ranges from standard office spec to creative integration with architectural features. Our engineers can incorporate specialized controls to interface with building automation systems or to function stand-alone.

Plumbing Engineering

Engineering Services

OSEG’s plumbing engineers take a “holistic” approach, incorporating sustainable design principles and energy efficiency into all design commissions. Our goal is to provide plumbing systems that meet our client’s expectations in terms of function, cost, efficiency and environmental impact.

Our project experience includes hospitals, schools, university buildings, prisons/criminal justice centers, transportation facilities, laboratories, aviation facilities, industrial plants, churches, wastewater treatment plants and commercial buildings.

OSEG engineers understand the challenges faced when designing new plumbing systems or replacing old ones in buildings. Our engineering team work to ensure the plumbing solutions are well integrated into the overall engineering design and that all plumbing needs are met. Using their education and experience they are able to offer a full range of services that include:

  • Waste and Vent Systems
  • Domestic Water Systems
  • Roof and Condensate Drainage
  • Storm Water Drainage Systems
  • Rainwater Reclamation Systems
  • Vent Piping Risers
  • Compressed Air Distribution
  •  Medical/Laboratory Gas Systems
  •  Backflow Prevention Design
  •  Natural Gas and Propane Systems
  • Commercial Kitchen Systems
  • Oil and Grease Waste and Separation Systems

Safely and efficiently channeling significant amounts of water is a challenging task, but one we’re authorities in.

Our plumbing design process incorporates the newest technologies and materials to harness the fundamentals of pressure and gravity.  It also allows for the seamless integration of the plumbing system into the overall facility, minimizing the amount of material usage and ultimately ensuring an improved bottom line.

Every project has its own unique needs, and the design of plumbing systems is not a “one-size-fits-all” approach. Each system should be tailored to meet the particular building’s unique requirements.  Our team work with our clients to select low-flow fixtures that’s support sustainability, as well as complement the style of the building’s interiors.

OSEG engineers approach every design opportunity as just that – an opportunity. Each design project is a unique opportunity to develop unique solutions that are engineered-to-suit. While OSEG doesn’t reinvent the wheel, it doesn’t provide cookie-cutter designs of other buildings either. Instead, OSEG collaborates closely with the client, owners, and the entire design team to understand the end user’s needs, building design parameters, performance goals and objectives, and then creates systems to meet or exceed those objectives.
